Where entertainers come to be entertained ...

Hi, following requests for another night of musical mayhem, we have acquired the use of the

Chilton Country Pub & Hotel

Black Boy Road Fencehouses Houghton-le-Spring

County Durham DH4 6PY Click for directions

The evenings are held fortnightly on a Tuesday and we kick off at about 8pm, although early arrival is advised as it is already very popular.

We’re looking for all entertainers in Acoustic / Electro acoustic style and we’ll have a PA with mikes, effects and a couple of small acoustic amps. Also there will be bass gear and Uncle Colin as resident backing guitar/synth. It’s a lovely little venue so please come along, strut your stuff, and have a laugh.

Hope to see you there, Regards

Jim Tait

First things first!
BREAKING NEWS last night was that "Gentleman" Jim Tait had been discharged from Hospital and is at home recovering. Everyone at the Chilton sends their love to Jim along with good wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
Last night's taste of summer meant we could have the doors wide open for the first time this year. This brought the very best of our performers who not only enthralled the regulars in the room, but also a sizeable crowd of folks sitting at the tables outside.I can never remember an evening with such a high standard and diversity of songs.
Leanne, ably supported by Colin, Stu and Dave, continues to amaze with her sheer talent and professionalism. Singing, without rehearsal, to a live accompaniment is daunting at the best of times but this young lady, unbelievably, had never sung with a live backing before coming to the Chilton.
On the subject of talented young ladies, we had a return visit from Kate last night whose performance, once again, was simply mind blowing. Highlight of the evening for me was her highly moving rendition of Goodnight Irene at the end of the night, which had several of the audience in tears - for the best of reasons.
I could go on and on but I'll end with a mention for Jimmy - a newbie to Chilton but obviously a guy with a wealth of experience and talent who is welcome back anytime. Great debut Jimmy.
Thanks to everyone who performed and watched - especially our regulars - "Happy" Jim B, "Video" Malc, "Sixteen Ton" Ray, "Frying Pan"Tom, "Mississippi" Fred, "Yodelling" Geoff and a special thanks to Stu, Colin and Dave on backing.
In conjunction with Malcolm Rocks and myself, a FREE DVD of tonight's performances will be available for all performers at the next Chilling at the Chilton.
This was too good a night not to have a memento of.

Can't wait for the next one.

You had to be there .......

Great night last Tuesday and a special hello to our "newbies" The Fix and the lovely Leanne. Really full again and the FIRST time in the history of Hallgarth and Chilton Buskers nights that we've not been able to re-cycle the acts! Full marks to Liz the Management for that superb Lasagne and the rest of the 1st Class scoff. Nice to see our semi-newbies again and I hope that you'll be back again next session. I've been approached by 3 "rival" Buskers nights but my feet are firmly planted at The Chilton Country Pub. By the way, if any of you are looking for venues for your Xmas Parties or Birthdays, give me a call.
See you all again on Tuesday 13th March. IN THE DIARY OR ON THE CALENDAR NOW!!!!
I've attached a link below of Leanne for those who couldn't attend. Thanks again to Malcolm Rocks for his participation vocally and his dvd and stills.
The same goes to Alan Prudhoe for his Youtube work!
See you all on the 13th

Valentine's Night

It was great to be back feeling so much better last Tuesday 14th Feb. What a night! what an atmosphere! what great food!
Great news for Dalaro, it seems they did really well the following day and have a 12 month open-ended deal so let's all keep our fingers crossed that all goes well and they remember us when they're headlining at Glastonbury!
Thanks to all the lovely performers who seemed to be just that bit better last Tuesday....and, of course, our sit and watchers who make the night for us.
I've had a request from the Management at The Chilton to do either a Friday Buskers Night there or another one at The Stella, Washington. I've had to turn it down as regards myself due to the fact I couldn't physically or mentally do it but if any of you fancy taking it on, let me know and I'll put you in touch with the right people.
Special thanks again for our buffet last Tuesday and the lovely bar and waiting staff at The Chilton.
See you all on February 28th, put it in your diary of phone NOW!

Valentine's Night at the Chilton

Hello everybody and thanks for looking after Big Al Prudhoe who, I understand, did a great job stepping in for me while I was in Krakow for the Krack!. Now, as regards next Tuesday the 14th February which is, as I'm sure you'll know, St Valentine's Day. We almost had a problem as the management at The Chilton called me as they had several couples booked in the Orangerie for a Romantic Dinner. However, they came back to me today to confirm we can go ahead as usual. With this in mind can I ask all of you to attend (wherever possible) so that the Managements faith in my assurances that we'd be well attended will be well-founded.
I'm really looking forward to seeing your ugly faces and hearing your attempts at producing music that is better than cringeworthy but let's see eh?
If you've promised to take your wife, partner or any other relationship you might have stumbled into, just bring them along with any other friends or Musos who haven't yet discovered the Earthly delights of Col, Stu, The Daves, Big Al, Ray the Metronome, Geoff the Hair, Pipe Dream and Malc the Camera.
See you there,

Lovely pic of Big Jim's Tour Bus in Poland.

Well....what a night!!
We certainly got rid of the January Blues last night.
Thanks to all the performers and patrons who helped make it a night to remember, and a special thank you to the hotel staff and management. who somehow managed to provide the usual excellent hot buffet, despite the fact that the heating had been off all day.
You are all stars.
As a special thank you, and in response to several requests on the night, we will, for this time only, make SuperMalc's DVD of the action available to any/all of the evening's performers. It will be free of charge so come along to our Valentine Night bash on the 14th Feb to claim your copy.

Another highlight that night will be the welcome return of our proper MC, Genial Jim Tait, who should have returned from his invasion of Poland by then.

Hope to see you all there.

Sunday, 29 January 2012

Hi Folks

Just a quick reminder that we will be "Chillling at the Chilton" again this Tuesday, 31st January 2012.

We will have to manage without Gentleman Jim again this time as he will be in Poland searching for young girls with good performance skills.(No change there then).
Nevertheless, we can not only promise you a great night's entertainment - but a free buffet too.
If you don't know where the Chilton Country Pub is you can get directions via this link.

Hope to see you all there but get there early to avoid disappointment.
